Olanrewaju Fagbohun is a celebrated voice in environmental law and advocacy for environmental preservation. He is on the Board of the Environmental Law Research Institute (ELRI), a non-profit organization for applied environmental research and policy analysis. He is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, and also lectures at the Faculty of Law, Lagos State University.
His teaching and research areas are business law, environmental policy and advocacy, international environmental law, and climate change. His practice encompassed both litigation and transactional work. As at January 2025, Professor Fagbohun, SAN, has published over One Hundred and Two (102) articles in local and international peer reviewed journals and delivered over 164 commissioned lectures in different parts of the world. He has co-edited nine (9) books and authored two (2) books that have met with acclaim and enthusiastic praise from reviewers.
He recently served as the 8th substantive Vice Chancellor of the Lagos State University. Prior to that, he has served as a consultant to governments, and bodies such as the European Commission, UNEP, UNDP, and Global Environment Facility. He was a member of the International Bar Association 18-man Special Task Force on Climate Change Justice and Human Rights which produced the book: Achieving Justice and Human Rights in an Era of Climate Disruption (2014). He has served as an expert on Nigerian Law in the United Kingdom and the United States, and he is currently a member of the National University Ranking Advisory Committee. In 2019, he was conferred with the National Productivity Order of Merit Award by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
